Standish Schubert Theorem 2010
Shiraz
The Schubert Theorem comes from The Standish Wine Company, based in the heart of South Australia’s famous Barossa Valley. This region is all about incredible Shiraz, thanks to its rich soils, warm climate, and long history of winemaking.
Adding to the allure of this wine is its mysterious black label. At first glance, the text is barely visible, but hold it at just the right angle to the light, and you might catch the faint lettering. The deep black label hints at the depth and richness of the wine to come, setting the tone for what's inside.
Dan Standish, the man behind the wine, has Barossa winemaking in his blood. He grew up in a family of grape growers and learned the craft early on. After honing his skills at Torbreck, one of Barossa's most renowned wineries, Dan decided to go solo, focusing on single-vineyard wines that really capture the character of each site.
The 2010 Schubert Theorem is a bold and beautifully complex Shiraz. Deep garnet-purple in color, it opens with an inviting nose of black cherry, blackberry, and some chocolate and pepper. The palate is rich and full-bodied, packed with juicy dark fruits, layered with spices and a hint of floral notes. Elegantly structured with fine-grained tannins, it has a long, expressive finish that lingers beautifully.
The recommended drinking window is 2015-2025, and it’s drinking beautifully now, showing off its rich complexity while still holding onto its youthful vibrancy. If you love big, powerful Shiraz with a touch of finesse, this is a must-try.
